He is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Welfare, University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia, and member of the  Research Group on Methodology, Methods, Models and Outcomes of Health and Social Sciences.
He has a degree in Physiotherapy by Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). He obtained his MSc and PhD titles in Physiology at the same university.  During his PhD studies, he did 1-year internship at the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (United Kingdom). He worked as a Post-doctorate researcher for 2 years at the Unit of Biophysics and Bioengineering of the University of Barcelona
He also holds a specialty certification in Physiotherapy Intensive Care, by the Brazilian Association of Cardiorespiratory Physical Therapy and Intensive Care Physical Therapy (ASSOBRAFIR). He worked as a physiotherapist during 5 years in the public and private health systems in Brazil.

He has published papers in the field of basic research and more recently he is involved with a line of research in lung function in older adults.
