Ester Goutan-Roura holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Neurobiology. She began teaching in the Nursing Diploma program at UB while working as a community pharmacist. In 2007 she joined UVic where she taught in the Biotechnology and Health Sciences programs.
She has held various administrative roles, including Coordinator of Physiotherapy, Head of Studies, Research and Doctoral Program Coordinator, and Head of Teaching Innovation. She is currently in her fourth year as Head of Studies for four undergraduate programs and one master’s program, overseeing over 1,500 students.
Her teaching focuses on Pharmacology, and she coordinates the subject’s teaching team. She has experience in international teaching (Erasmus) and maintains clinical pharmacy practice through yearly collaborations with Vic Hospital.
In research, she coordinated the Health Conditions and Tissue Regeneration research line as a member of the TR2Lab research group. She also served as the coordinator of the Erasmus+ EHECADI Project, which concluded last December. She has numerous publications and has participated in multiple scientific committees and conferences.
Internationally, as the COHEHRE board member responsible for research, she has participated in and coordinated the scientific committee, reviewing over 800 abstracts, and has helped organize the annual conference at various European locations.
