This project studies non-cognitive factors and their impact on student academic performance. Non-cognitive factors are very important for learning, since they are linked to academic performance and influenced by the environments that students are in. For this reason, if contexts that favor non-cognitive development are generated, an improvement in the academic performance of students will be achieved.

The project focuses on academic burnout and psychological distress in 1st year students of university degrees, as well as their proficiency profile and personality. The specific objectives are:

  • To know the prevalence of academic burnout in 1st year students of university degrees.
  • To know the prevalence of psychological distress in 1st year students of university degrees.
  • To know if the students present psychological discomfort due to the effect of the burnout effect in the first year of the different university degrees.
  • To know if the presence of academic burnout and psychological distress have a negative impact on academic performance in 1st year students of university degrees.
  • To know the variables associated with burnout and their consequences on academic burnout of first-year students of different university degrees.
  • To know the prevalence of academic burnout according to the university degree being studied.
  • To know the relationship between the burnout subscales and psychological distress.
