The Actyren-HD project is entitled “Effectiveness of a Therapeutic Exercise Program During Outpatient Hemodialysis Treatment for Improving Physical Capacity in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease“. It’s a controlled and randomized clinical trial of multiple Cohorts.

The project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an exercise program in enhancing physical capacity among chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment at CHV‘s nephrology unit. The target group of this project are patients receiving renal replacement therapy with hemodialysis. Additionally, they’ll explore its impact on quality of life, daily function, strength, and symptoms of anxiety and depression.

This project has been made possible thanks to the coalition between the M₃O Research Group from UVic-UCC and the Hospital Universitari de Vic (CHV).

The research team is composed of the members of the M₃O Cristina Font, as lead investigator, Pau Farrés, Carles Parés, Marc Terradas, as well as Alícia Minaya and Esmeralda Molina, both of whom are also part of the Vic Hospital Consortium team. Marta Colomer, Mercè Homs, Pep Ortiz and Judit Bou from the Vic University Hospital are also participating.

The evaluations will begin at the end of April 2024 and the program has an expected implementation from June to September of the same year.
