Images for remembrance
Participating entity: Sant Jordi Day Care Center
Description of L-S
The project “Images for remembrance” is a Learning and Service (L-S) initiative carried out at the San Jorge Day Care Center in Vic. The main objective of the project is to enhance the digital skills of the participants, encourage the use of memory through photography and create links between them. During five sessions, participants have learned to use the cell phone camera to take pictures that they have then used to create personal collages. This project has allowed participants to remember important moments and emotions, while developing technological skills and sharing experiences with other members of the group.
Participants: service coordinator and great people.
Objectives:
- Enhancing digital competencies
- To create a link between participants
- Encourage the use of memory through images.
- Design your own artistic collage
Reflections of UVic students
- We ended the session with a little more idea of what to do, but we still have to finalize things. We also partly make a good assessment of the fact that we have met the participants and have started to do some bonding.
- This session of preparation and planning has been good to finish clarifying and sharing the project, but as a point to improve for another session or for the future, we believe that this session should have been without the participants present.
- The session is valued positively, where we have been able to attend all the members of the project team and we have received the support of Joaquim. Throughout the session we have been able to create an emotional bond with the various participants, which have been more than expected. […] This section has shown a very positive motivation and at the same time they have provided facilities to relate with each other, both with the educators and with the colleagues of the center.
- After having carried out this session and having met the participants, we have reflected and we have considered making a change and making the second session, in which we had planned only to take a portrait, to include a photo of an object that represents them, since the third session we will go out with them for a walk to take the third photo and after observing their capabilities we thought that we would need the time of the whole session to be able to finish it calmly with the appropriate time.
- The session has been very positive, even so, it was a bit difficult to break the ice and we think it would have been better to have a kick-off activity.
- All the participants have chosen satisfactory emotions towards our dynamization and activities, the most chosen emotion of the average results has been: happiness! Finally, we all finished the session, singing, laughing and excited.
- This session we can consider that it has been the one with less organization and preparation, since the group had the complication of thinking about its implementation with little time due to a setback. Even so, we believe that we were left with a session in which we were able to continue advancing in the project, starting with the elaboration of the collage and in which the participants enjoyed themselves and had a pleasant time.
- With the group we were able to organize properly, so that the next day we did not miss anything and we were able to carry out the activity we had planned, having all the material purchased and the dynamics prepared.
- During the closing dynamic, each participant was able to express how he/she felt during the session. All of them have extracted very positive things from the session. They liked to go out and above all they emphasized the fact of feeling accompanied. It was a very emotional closing.
- Although they all showed a good attitude, some of them said that handicrafts were not their favorite hobby and, therefore, it was not the one that motivated them the most.
