Reflections of UVic students
- Today, the digital world has advanced and continues to advance at great speed, we live in the society of immediacy, where people have to be informed now and a lot. Given this fact, how can a school adapt to this paradigm? How can it be achieved that the school is not only its classrooms, but all the people who live there and their families?
- Having analyzed the digital resources available to them, we wonder: Is it really necessary to have a wide range of applications if their purpose seems to be the same? Consequently, can families access the information they need at all times and in a clear way?
- We understand that the school provides an image rights authorization to which parents give consent, but are these parents really aware that their children are exposed to all these platforms mentioned above?
- The realization of this project has been a challenge for us, at first we did not know where to direct the project or with what methodology to apply it. It has been difficult to guide the project towards the objectives finally proposed. Despite the difficulties, we have been able to manage the different situations that we have encountered throughout the work and implementations. As a group, we must emphasize that we have shown a high capacity for group work and resolution, which has resulted in the achievement of the different goals set. The project’s beneficiaries have made it easier to achieve them, since during the sessions they have participated in a proactive way and with a predisposition to learn, which has been one of the key elements of the project’s success.
- The aspects to improve have been the lack of availability of different resources at the time of conducting the different sessions, such as the lack of computers, the lack of operation of the different projectors when we consider the Kahoot, among others. Another aspect to improve is the organization and coordination with the school towards this project, we have missed communication with the different agents involved and the support of these.
- As future social educators, this work has helped us to know and discover the world of ICT and put into practice the theory learned during the course home, in addition, it has made us aware that ICT resources can contribute to awaken the interest and motivation of students when performing various learning. It has also made us reflect on the fact that as social educators we have to carry out educational practices that include ICT to contribute to improve aspects such as digital literacy, accessibility to information, management of this information and in general digital competences, since nowadays, not having access to ICT is a factor of social exclusion.
- We can make a critical evaluation of ourselves, since we see that the way in which we conducted the session and the fact of doing it in such a small classroom could have had an impact on the dynamics of the activity, and we also keep in mind that they spend most of the time in those classrooms and that they were eager to play. Even so, we are very happy and satisfied with the support that we offer each other when we encounter obstacles.
