The Laboratory for Social and Digital Innovation (LISD), located in the Remei neighborhood of the city of Vic (Barcelona), is a social, educational and digital project led by the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). The UVic-UCC has a clear commitment to the territory and, through different structures and services, seeks to extend the transfer of knowledge and training practice throughout the region. This is also the line of work adopted by the LISD, which articulates its methodology and actions through action research. LISD studies, analyzes and identifies the socio-digital inequalities present in the territory. Through the results of the research and with the participation of community agents, it promotes activities for social cohesion, citizen participation and digital competence. The proposals developed by LISD are mainly Service-Learning projects, workshops and training in the socio-digital field.
The LISD was created in 2021 as a result of Osona Lab City, a territorial specialization and competitiveness project (PECT) financed by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Commission.
OBJECTIVES
In this line, the LISD promotes actions for the accessibility and digital competence of society, betting on the development of inclusive, participatory and democratic digital practices, and accompanying socio-digital improvement processes from, with and for the community. Specifically, the LISD has the following general objectives :
- Identify the devices, uses and digital accesses of the population.
- To understand and analyze the situations of digital inequality experienced by the population.
- To design digital actions for prevention and action against situations of socio-digital exclusion, which recognize the characteristics of the context and adjust to its needs.
- To build actions with, from and for the population in order to guarantee social and digital inclusion.
- Promote the accessibility and digital competence of citizens.
- Ensure the continuity and sustainability of the proposed actions in coordination with the rest of the agents of the territory, and through the optimization of strategies and resources.
