The first meeting of the Life DEMINE project took place at Swansea University facilities on 19th and 20th December 2017. The meeting count with the participation of the five partners of the project: BETA Technological Center, Swansea University, Dresden Groundwater Research Centre, Elentec Ltd. and the government of the Principality of Asturias.
During the meeting, we reviewed the current state of the project, discussed the preliminary results obtained during the performance of the preparatory actions and planned the next actions. Our reports about the progress of the project actions were carefully listened to and examined by our project monitor, Irune Osés. She also helped us to solve minor questions that appeared along the way of implementing the project and gave clear explanations about the General Conditions of the Life programme .
The meeting was also attended by Natural Resources Wales (NRW), a very relevant stakeholder for the Life DEMINE project with a wide expertise in the management of abandoned mines across Wales (https://naturalresources.wales).
Finally, we also visited the Bay Campus facilities of the Swansea University, where the preliminary tests to design the treatment plant to treat mining effluents will be made in the next months.
