Here are some actions we are taking, with the help of UVic Ecocampus, to make IROICA 2019 a more sustainable event. We hope you will enjoy taking part in a more sustainable and healthier conference for everyone!

 

Before you travel

Transport and logistics

  • We recommend you look at alternatives to air travel. Lleida, Girona and Barcelona are well-linked to the high-speed train network.
  • We are offsetting the carbon footprint of the conference by cooperating with Treecological. You will receive more information about this during the conference.

Packing your suitcase

  • Please bring a bottle or mug for the coffee breaks.
  • Please pack a reusable bag, if you think you will need one during the conference or to go shopping in Vic.

 

At the conference

Accommodation

  • Hotels have been informed of the IROICA conference green standards.

Getting about

  • The conference venues in Vic are all within 10-minutes walk of each other and from the city centre.
  • If you have special mobility needs please mention it on the registration form or contact us.
  • The UVic Ecocampus electric car will be available to help you move between venues, if you have reduced mobility.

No goodie bags

  • Instead you will get a recycled cardboard folder containing a programme and list of participants. If you need more material, such as local tourist information, paper or pens, they will be available at the registration desk upon request.
  • Savings from this initiative will be allocated to the optional city tour, which will be free for all the conference delegates.

Catering

  • Dishes, glasses, cutlery and tablecloths will be reuseable.
  • Local and seasonal food with sufficient options for vegetarians, vegans or people with allergies will be provided.
  • Lunch will be a set vegetarian menu.

Badge collection

  • Drop your badges in the basket at the reception desk at the end of the conference.
