23rd IROICA conference
5-7 June 2019
Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya
The Impact of International Politics on the Internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions
IROICA, the Network of International Relations Officers in Life Science Universities in Europe, is holding its 23rd conference in Vic (Spain) from 5th to 7th June 2019. Our global community is facing tremendous challenges: growing inequality, populism and nationalism threatening international cooperation and climate change with uncertain but severe implications. These challenges will have a serious impact on the future of internationalisation in higher education. The aim of the 23rd IROICA conference is to consider these issues.
The conference is addressed to those wishing to develop international cooperation at universities, particularly in the field of life sciences. This year IROICA is piloting a sustainability strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of the conference. With this strategy in mind we hope to inspire participants with a series of actions which, on the one hand, will lower environmental impact, and on the other, benefit the local community. IROICA’s 2019 programme includes state-of-the-art talks on Populism, Brexit and Sustainable Development Goals, as well as interactive workshops and vocational training for professionals in international relations.
