Dr Reinhold Bopp and Dr Wolfram Sopha, two professors from Nürtingen Geislingen University (HfWU) in Germany, visited UVic-UCC this October. They taught classes on the Business and Quality Management course (taught in English) for Automotive Engineering students in Granollers. Dr Pau Català, the coordinator for Automotive Engineering at UVic organised and hosted their visit, after visiting Nürtingen and Geislingen last year for HfWU international week. UVic’s
Automotive Engineering degree is in its second year and already boasts over 100 students. The degree includes a strong practical component and a year’s placement with a company. Students can choose to do this year abroad to gain international experience either studying at partner universities or gaining work experience in companies, and what could be better than Germany’s vast automotive sector!
As well as teaching in Granollers, Dr Bopp also visited the University campus in Vic and gave an informative presentation on HfWU to FCT engineering students. HfWU has a degree in Automotive Business and a Masters in Automotive Management, both of which make a perfect complement to the Automotive Engineering degree at UVic, for those students seeking to specialise in management in the automotive sector. HfWU is situated in the Baden Württemberg region of Southern Germany, an area surrounded by a host of automotive companies and suppliers, such as BMW, Porsche and Mercedes.
UVic and HfWU signed an agreement last year for students and teachers to do exchanges every year. UVic offers HfWU students a selection of subjects in English in both business and technical areas, as well as the chance to study near the Circuit de Barcelona- Catalunya Formula 1 race track and learn how the automotive companies in the greater Barcelona area work.
