Professor of Physiology and Systemic Anatomy at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). Member of the Department of Basic Sciences on the Manresa Campus.

Dr. Alvarez is licensed in Biology (UAB, 1994) and she did an Erasmus stage at Hôpital Purpan (Toulouse, France) in 1995. Later on, she completed Master and PhD studies at the Unitat Antropologia Biològica (UAB, 2001 and 2007, respectively) in collaboration with the Hospital Materno-Infantil Vall d’Hebron of Barcelona.

She also worked in the field of clinical analysis at the Balague Center SA (2005-2014) as a coordinator of the Cytogenetics Department.

Dr Alvarez has expertise on cytogenetics, cell culture, epigenetic factors and molecular studies related to cancer and inflammation processes.

Biomedicine Workshops: Connecting Biomedical Sciences with Upper Secondary Students

The Biomedicine Workshops, organized by TR2Lab as part of the Educational Biomedicine Program, are a well-established scientific dissemination activity aimed at high school students. The primary goal of these workshops is to bridge the gap between high school science education and university degrees. Additionally, they provide an excellent platform for disseminating biomedical sciences, fostering scientific vocations, and channeling the curiosity and research initiatives of high school students.
