Most of chronic wound therapies are addressed to contribute to developing different phases of the wound healing process. There are very few systemic agents that have been shown to facilitate wound healing. However, growth factors have largely been used as a topical therapies. Recent findings suggest that platelet concentrates contain multiple functional growth factors and cytokines and may be used as a therapy. We hypothesize that topic application of autologous growth factor, applied as a gel, in wounds may contribute effectively to improve the healing wound time.
